Embarking on a design voyage for Amethyst Bay, a luxury beach resort in St. Thomas, my task was to construct a full-page magazine ad and animated digital banner. My previous sojourn to St. Thomas sparked a torrent of inspiration, with my own photographs from the trip serving as the muse for my designs. With the provided color palette, I set out to craft an advertisement that was as relaxing as it was luxurious, a visual magnet that would captivate and engage. Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator were my tools of choice, assisting me in creating high-quality graphics and optimizing them for web viewing. The blend of typography and pristine images was carefully selected to showcase the luxury beach resort in all its glory. I artfully wielded the elements of design, using color, shape, and texture to fashion an aesthetically pleasing design while highlighting crucial information using contrast and hierarchy.
As a passionate believer in the power of critique, I integrated feedback throughout the design process. I’ve always considered outside perspectives as invaluable in design development – they often reveal what the creator’s eyes can’t. One peer offered a detailed critique, which I found immensely helpful and incorporated into my work. While staying true to the assignment’s specifications and adhering to the scope of the project, I crafted designs that needed only minor tweaks, proving their strength. Attention to detail was paramount – clear, high-resolution images, accurate colors as per branding guidelines, and readable typography enhanced by contrasting colors, strokes, and drop shadows. The final files were meticulously converted into the appropriate formats for both print and screen publication, resulting in a design I take pride in – one that showcases my eye for detail, technical prowess, and creativity.
