Jessica Van Horn

Graphic Designer

In my role as the graphic designer for Ashanti Cowart’s business, I employed tools like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and web design platforms to weave a visual narrative of Ashanti’s work as a life coach and consultant. Her logo—a pair of hands cradling a lotus flower with a woman’s silhouette nestled within—emerged as a symbol of nurturing, personal growth, and the blooming of potential. The elements and principles of design were my silent collaborators, helping me balance the central figures of the logo with a meticulously chosen color palette of maroon, dusty rose, cream, and black. This medley of hues set a warm, feminine, yet professional tone, an apt reflection of Ashanti’s approach to her work.

The ideation phase was a fertile playground of brainstorming and sketching, with Ashanti’s brand image as my guiding star. The transformative journey she guides her clients through became the visual story in the logo—hands, a lotus flower, and a woman encapsulating her role. Feedback was my compass, steering me towards refinement and alignment with Ashanti’s vision. An astute peer’s suggestion led me to rearrange the logo elements to a point of completion. My commitment to adhering to Ashanti’s brief is evident in the final design, a harmonious blend of imagery, color palette, and typography. The website strikes a delicate balance between soft femininity and a compelling presence, mirroring the essence of Ashanti’s work. The meticulous craftsmanship is visible in every detail, from the clarity of the logo to the website’s user-friendly layout and aesthetic allure.
