Graphic Designer

In a marketing class, I was given the intriguing task of designing a poster to rally volunteers for a clean drinking water initiative, a project that blended my design skills with cultural sensitivity and awareness. The call to action had a Mexican backdrop, and to mirror that vibrant culture, I turned to Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. With these tools, I added depth to my text with drop shadows, ensuring its legibility against the backdrop of a lively cenote image and traditional banners, symbols of the rich Mexican culture and heritage.

As I navigated through the design process, the elements and principles of design were my guiding compass. The cenote and traditional banners lent their shapes and forms to the poster, while the spirited color palette ignited an energetic and enthusiastic atmosphere. While I was unable to gather peer feedback, my instructor’s suggestions proved invaluable, particularly the recommendation to adjust the opacity of the background image to enhance text legibility. This adjustment, along with my decision to craft a Spanish version of the poster, elevated the design’s effectiveness in appealing to potential volunteers while respecting cultural nuances. The end product was a high-resolution print-ready poster that showcased my keen attention to detail and commitment to cultural relevance, both in the choice of imagery and typography. The drop shadows further enhanced legibility, making the vibrant poster not just a visual treat but a clear, compelling call to action.
